Davi is new sneaker brand founded by former Nike director Gabriel Williams that seeks to make a difference in its community.
I really feel like business should play a key role in supporting the communities that support it. At davi, we always say it, like me and the team, we’re just more than a sneaker company. We really want to build a brand that encourages and empowers people.
Williams said in starting this company, he wanted to sell a sneaker that would help the local arts, music, and sports programs.
Five percent of the sales of each pair of shoes will go to a group in the city in which the sneakers were purchased. For the Dallas-Fort Worth area those organizations are Hope Farm, which serves at-risk boys and mothers; Young Mother’s Leadership Academy, the Fort Worth ISD’s first single-gender school and I.M. Terrell Academy for STEM and VPA.
OnAugust 29 Davi commenced a Kickstarter campaign. It reached its $20,000 goal in just two and a half hours; the campaign currently sits at over $42,000. An update to the campaign states since the goal was reached so quickly, it will be concluded September 7,2018 at midnight in order to get started finalizing and producing their sneaker, the davi Trinidad.
